In a move to equip future engineers with practical skills and bridge the industry-academia gap, the Bihar government has announced a paid internship scheme for BTech students enrolled in state-run colleges. This initiative, launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, aims to provide valuable real-world exposure and enhance the employability of young engineers.
Open to students in their seventh semester, the programme offers a one-time stipend of Rs. 10,000 along with the internship experience. Interns will gain hands-on experience within various government departments, applying their theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems and contribute to ongoing projects.
"This internship scheme is a crucial step towards bridging the skill gap between academic learning and industry requirements," said Education Minister Ashok Choudhary. "By exposing students to the functioning of government departments, we equip them with the practical skills and understanding needed to excel in their chosen fields."
Experts believe the scheme holds immense potential for Bihar's engineering talent. "This programme not only benefits students but also strengthens the government's functioning by incorporating fresh perspectives and innovative ideas," said Dr. Avinash Kumar, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna. "It's a win-win situation for all stakeholders."
