About
The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) was established as part of Panjab University in the academic session 2004 -2005. In a short time, it has become one of the leading law institutes with a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Its mission is to equip students with the skills to understand and diagnose the complexities of various legal and other interdisciplinary problems and to find solutions to these problems through analysis and reasoning. The institute's stimulating and interactive academic environment helps improve students' planning, research, advocacy, interviewing and negotiation skills. To achieve this, the institute organizes many extracurricular activities. Students are trained in substantive law, procedural legal techniques, client counseling methods and legal and social science research skills, etc. District Court competitions, client counseling sessions, quizzes, seminars, group discussions and extension lectures etc are a regular feature. academic calendar of the institute. The institute also exposes its students to legislation by doing mandatory internships with Supreme Court, Punjab and Haryana High Court Judges, eminent lawyers, law firms, various commissions and NGOs etc. The institute's own legal aid clinic, which offers free legal services to economically weaker societies as part of the institute's community service program, also offers students opportunities to work with lawyers. The purpose of this activity process is to enable students to understand that lawyers, in addition to their professional responsibilities, have a significant influence on a wide range of individuals and transactions.
