The trust was founded by Seth Mohanlal Jalan and other notable members of the community. The trust was essential in the establishment of many schools, libraries, reading rooms, and colleges in West Bengal and other regions of India.
It is a college connected with the University of Calcutta and adheres to the University's norms and regulations, curriculum design, and examination and assessment system. The College provides three-year Bachelor Degree (Hons. & General) degrees in several Humanities and Commerce fields under the CBCS examination system. College Hours of operation: 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. English is the medium of instruction.
