About
The National Institute of Design (NID) was established in 1961 and was a place of design education practice and research. NID is one of the leading multidisciplinary institutions in the field of design education and research. Business Week USA listed NID as one of the top 25 European and Asian programs in the world. Under the National Industries Act, 201 , NID has been declared as an Institution of National Importance as a Research Organization in Science and Industrial Technology by an Act of Parliament under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The department is recognized by the National Institute of Design. The three main campuses of NID Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) are Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Gandhinagar. National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad is the first to be formed among the three and is also known as the "heritage campus". After Germany's Bauhaus and Ulm, NID pioneered industrial design education and is known for excellence. NID graduates have made significant contributions to key sectors of business, industry and social development, assuming the role of an effective catalyst. NID Admission gives color to the dreams of students seeking a brilliant career in the world of art and design and becomes a milestone that enriches their creativity. National Institute of Design Ahmedabad has opened its doors to the world and as a result many creative brains from different parts of the world have grown here, so NID is also a place of cultural exchange where students can learn from each other. NID offers both undergraduate and graduate programs with five faculty streams and 20 different engineering disciplines. NID has pedagogical relations with more than 55 foreign educational institutions. NID also played an important role in promoting design.

NID Admissions
The National Institute of Design starts the application process in October every year. Admission to NID Ahmedabad is based on a candidate's performance in a national-level entrance exam known as the Design Aptitude Test (DAT). DAT is conducted in two stages – Prelims and Mains. NID offers various courses like Undergraduate Program, Master of Design Program and Post Graduate Program in Design.
