Guru Nanak College
Guru Nanak College (GNC) is located in a lush green 25-acre campus between the Raj Bhavan and the IIT-Madras campus and faces Guru Nanak Salai, Velachery, South Chennai - the gateway to the IT industry. Tamil Nadu Highway. The Guru Nanak Education Society (GNES) established Guru Nanak Colleges in 1971 to celebrate the 500th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji, the founder of the Sikh religion. (Late) Lieutenant Colonel G.S. Gill was the founder president, (also) Padmashree P.N. Dhawan was the General Secretary and (also) Sardar Manohar Singh Sabherwal the Treasurer. For the small Sikh community that made Tamil Nadu home after partition from Punjab, this is a historic service. The noble mission of GNES is to provide quality education to all irrespective of socio-economic background, caste, creed or creed. This is in line with the university motto "Pro Bono Publico" which is a translation of the Sikh prayer "Sarbat ka bhalla" which means "to benefit all". Sikhs are a minority in the state, but the leadership does not demand concessions to minority institutions. It is run and regulated as a minority institution serving the majority community
Admissions Process for Guru Nanak University
As a unit of Guru Nanak Education Society, Guru Nanak College was established in 1971 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The college offers students two shifts – morning and evening, which include graduate, post-graduate and research courses. BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BCA and BBA are offered at UG level. M.Com., M.Sc., MCA, MBA, MA are offered at PG level. M.Phil and Ph.D. different disciplines are offered at the doctoral level.
Guru Nanak College Admissions
- Students should apply through the online form and pay a sum of Rs.250
- The documents must be submitted to the front office for review
- If shortlisted, the student must meet the principal for a personal interview round
- The admissions process is complete and the student can join the college if selected
