Government Medical College, Amritsar offers admission to MBBS course on the basis of performance in the relevant entrance examination. The exam may be the Punjab Medical Entrance Test, conducted by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot or the All India Medical Entrance Examination (CBSE Examination) conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi.
The admission process consists of admission counselling for candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in Government Medical College entrance examination. Candidates must provide original documents for verification, as well as the stipulated fee amount to complete the admission process. The syllabus includes basic questions covering Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. It includes multiple choice questions as well as reason assertion questions.
- Candidates should have passed at 10+2 level in the science stream to apply.
- Candidate must be at least 17 years if age as on the 31st of December of the year of admission.
- Candidates must have passed / appearing / appeared for 12th class examination or its equivalent with the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology.
- 85% of seats are awarded on the basis of performance in Punjab Medical Entrance Test.
- The remaining 15% seats are kept aside for those applying through scores obtained in the AIIMS examination.
