MMS is a 2-year PG program that provides advanced general management knowledge. It can be pursued by those who hold a UG degree in management or any other field. The course has been designed to offer managerial and leadership skills to the students.

This course is rather new in India and is currently offered by the institutes available in Maharashtra. The admission is based on the scores secured in the entrance exam. The institutes consider the scores of aptitude tests like CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, ATMA, etc. MHT-CET is the most common exam considered by the institutes of Maharashtra.

About the MMS Course

  • Master in Management Studies is a 2-year postgraduate program that introduces all the business management subjects.
  • It has been designed to offer managerial and leadership skills to the students.
  • The course includes subjects like Perspective Management, Financial Accounting, Business Statistics, Operations Management, Managerial Economics, Marketing Management, Human Research Management, Business Research methods, etc.
  • The course offers specialization in 5 areas i.e, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Information Systems, and Operations.
  • The MMS course seems to be confused with MBA, but it is an entirely different pursuit. It is designed for freshers, who have just graduated and looking to expand their knowledge of management studies or planning to switch domains into management studies.

MMS: Admission Process

  • Since the MMS courses are offered mostly in the state of Maharashtra, they are carried out under the strict guidelines laid down by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Govt of Maharashtra.
  • The admission into the MMS course is based on aptitude tests like MHT-CET, CAT, CMAT, XAT, etc, and CAP round conducted by DTE, followed by group discussion and personal interview.
  • The candidates who have cleared the cut-off in any of the above-mentioned exams can then apply to the institutes for the MMS program, both online and offline.

Eligibility

The candidates who are interested in applying for the MMS program should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • They should have a bachelor's degree in the field of study from an institute recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Govt of India.
  • They should have a minimum aggregate of 50% or 45% for the backward class categories.
